Newborn Session Details
When should I book my newborn session?
>> Your newest baby should be photographed within the first 2 weeks in order to get those sweet "sleepy baby" poses. Earlier the better is what I always say. You should contact me during your pregnancy (ideally your 2nd trimester) so we can set up a tentative date. With a prior history working as a nurse on the maternity floor, I understand they have a mind of their own and will come when they are good and ready. But at least we will have a date on the calendar. Once baby arrives, whether it's early or later than your due date, we can adjust your session if need be.
Where will the session be?
>> This is totally up to you. If you should choose a studio setting, they will be taken at my studio located here in Mt. Pleasant. Another option would be a lifestyle newborn session which would be at your home or location of your choice.
Who can be in the pictures with my baby?
>> During the session, I always encourage the family to be involved. Typically, I like to shoot a combination of poses including mommy/baby, daddy/baby, siblings/baby, family, and of course some with the new baby alone. Your input is valuable, so you just tell me what you are looking for.
How long is the session?
>> I always recommend scheduling a time where you won't be rushed. The normal newborn session usually lasts between 2-3 hours. I know that seems like a long time, but that allows for feedings, diaper changes, prop changes, and mainly just getting this newby to sleep. Each baby is different and unpredictable.
What should I bring to the session?
>> Definitely bring the essentials...a food source, diapers, and especially a passy! Even if baby doesn't use a passy, it helps tremendously for soothing. Just a little side note...if mommy is trying to soothe, baby smells her and immediately thinks of food. If there is anything specific you want in the photo, just bring it. We may use, we may not, but better to have in case time allows for more posing. It is always good to bring items from their nursery, something with their name on it, or just something that is sentimental to your family. I am open to ideas, so bring those with you too!
What should I wear?
>> That is a good one and a very popular question! I will provide some tips depending on your session as i keep newborn sessions matching with family in solid, neutral colors to keep the focus on baby. I am always here to help you and look over what you have pick out. I will help with suggestions to accessorize and pull all the family member's outfits together. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me.
What does it cost?
>> A newborn session starts at $400. An additional fee may be included for travel and location. This includes the photographer's time, skill, and print release of all the high resolution edited images. Typically, there are between 40-100 edited images in your gallery. Optional prints and products are available for purchase at the time of proofing.
Please feel free to contact me with any further questions or if you would like to check my availability for scheduling.
